Who We Are
Púuna is a creative community dedicated to helping families and individuals slow down, connect, and make together. We believe that making is more than an activity—it’s medicine. Through our products, workshop kits, resources, and hands-on workshops, we nurture wellbeing, strengthen relationships, and foster community care. Our approach is grounded in connection, creativity, and accessibility, so everyone can experience the joy and healing that comes from creating together.
Our Artists
Lia is a community engaged practitioner working across art forms with regional and remote communities in northern Australia. She collaborates with artists, community members and organisations to create cultural and creative spaces that support people to explore and strengthen their practice.
A respected CACD practitioner, Lia is also an artist, workshop facilitator, educator and public speaker. Her work is grounded in empowering participation, fostering creativity and building meaningful connections through arts and culture.
Lia Pa’apa’a
Johannah is a Cairns based artist, social worker and community practitioner of Yidinji Malanbarra, Meriam Komet and Irish heritage. As a lead artist with Púuna, she delivers culture inspired creative programs for carers, babies, children and young people, bringing together art, food and cultural practices to support connection, creativity and wellbeing.
Grounded in a holistic and relational approach to health, Johannah’s work draws on her experience with children and families and her interests in cooking, gardening, weaving, plant medicine and textile arts. She is committed to creating inclusive spaces, particularly for neurodivergent children and families, where creativity supports connection and community wellbeing.
